This beautiful antique Persian table top features a copper & tin relief of Darius the Great, the one-time Persian (modern-day Iran) king and ruler of the Achaemenid Empire (c. 550-486 BCE). Painstakingly and masterfully hand-chased, this massive table top measures approximately 38.5-inches in diameter. Estimated to have been crafted in the late 19th or early 20th century, the table features the relief of King Darius, which is encircled by floral metalwork, and then by characteristically Zoroastrian men, who are subjects & warriors of King Darius. The outer edges of the table are then circled by more floral patterns and, finally, by a relief of birds nests & flowers with eyelet cutouts from the metal in between.
CONDITION:
This table top is in great antique condition. The different metals used in the crafting of this piece are easily distinguishable, and the relief is absolutely visible, as well. There is no major damage to it, cosmetic or otherwise.
