This is a Globe-Wernicke barrister bookcase stack, or, more specifically, a single stackable unit that can be combined with other units to make a complete barrister bookcase. Crafted in Cincinnati from solid Tiger’s oak, it features a fully operational and intact fold-up glass door with handles for easy maneuvering. Like virtually all Globe-Wernicke barrister bookcases & the parts that they’re crafted of, this shelving unit is an antique that’s estimated to have been made between 1910-1920, and is an original from that time period (& with all original parts!), showcasing classic design elements. These shelving units are modular, meaning when there is more than one unit available, many of them can be mixed and matched by locking into one another. Grade: 198 As the listing photos show, the Globe-Wernicke designated grade of this shelving unit is 198, which indicated that the unit was made from plain oak & had a medium-dark antique gloss finish at the time of its manufacture.

Pattern: 112 The three digit pattern code was used by Globe-Wernicke to identify the barrister “type.” Having a pattern of 112 means that this is a standard sized “Book Unit.”
