Antique 22k Gilded Ormolu Filigree Casket Jewelry Box with Beveled Glass

This beautiful antique jewelry box is truly stunning. Made in the classic luxurious French casket style, this piece features six display windows with beveled glass that show the velvet interior, colored in a soft orange hue. The ornate filigree metalwork that surrounds the box is gilded in 22k gold, also known as ormolu. And although the box is unmarked and has no branding, making it difficult to ascertain the maker, details like these can help identify when the piece was most likely crafted. Ormolu was particularly popular during the Victorian period all the way through the 1940’s. This information, as well as the fact that this box is unmarked, and it’s ornate filigree detailing point to this piece most likely having been made in the early 1900’s. The box has virtually no damage, it opens from the top as it’s supposed to, and it has no loose joints. All of the glass is in tact and held solidly in place, and all of the gilding work has held up incredibly well over the years. There is no discoloration or fading. The velvet interior has no tears or stains.
